Sandy is Director of Operations of Thacker Caskets, Inc. She received her initial orientation into the casket and funeral industry while working summers during high school for Carl and Audrey Thacker at the founder’s Washington, DC office.
In 1971, after completing studies at Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross, Sandy moved with her husband to Newport, RI to begin a family. In 1978, she returned to the Washington, DC area with her two daughters, and accepted a position at Stone Ridge School as Assistant Director of Development.
In 1980, Sandy began a renewed love of the casket business and service to the funeral industry when she again joined the Thacker Family. Sandy manages the Thacker Caskets, Inc. day to day operations including accounts receiveable, human resources, and inside sales. In her spare time, Sandy enjoys visiting with her grandchildren and also teaching dance.
Lounell has worked as an Administrative Assistant for Thacker Caskets, Inc. since August, 1986. At Thacker, Lounell is experienced in aspects of customer service including handling customer questions and also order taking. In addition to the customer service portion of her job, Lounell also manages the inventory for the 13 warehouses.
Lounell was born and raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. After graduating from Bowie State University in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Lounell moved to Washington, DC. Today, Lounell is married to her husband Darryl and they live in College Park, MD. She has a daughter and two sons. Lou Nell’s outside interests include singing, sewing with her quilting guild, reading, sports, and taking care of her family.
Greg joined Thacker Caskets, Inc. in 1999 as a Funeral Director liaison to assist the company in better understanding the needs of our funeral director clientele.
Greg himself has been a licensed funeral director since 1986. He is a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association—both since 1986. At work, Greg handles various duties including order and delivery logistics, accounts payable, and custom embroidered head panel orders.
In his spare time, Greg enjoys motorcycle riding, and snow and water skiing. A licensed private aircraft pilot since 1980, Greg is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Joanne and daughter Katelyn.
Nashonie Hilliard serves as one of Thacker’s Customer Service Representatives. Nashonie joined Thacker in January 2017, however she had previously worked for Thacker from the late 1990's to early 2000's to moving to Georgia. After returning from Georgia back to Maryland, Nashonie honed her customer service skills in the retail customer service environment.
At Thacker Caskets, Nashonie serves as a Customer Service Representative, primarily taking both casket, urn and panel orders from funeral homes. In addition, she works with each of the warehouses to accurately assist in inventory and billing processes.
Nashonie studied accounting at the University of Maryland. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging with her Bichon-Poo dog, Scratch, spending time with her parents, and listening/radio hosting for Go-Go music channels in the Washington, D.C. market. She also enjoys traveling, reading, movies, dance, the New York Giants and other adventurous activities!
