Recently, the funeral supply industry has been wracked by acquisitions, mergers, and closures. Funeral directors are often confused about who owns whom. The large players in this industry also seem intent on shifting production to foreign soil, and eliminating American jobs in yet another traditional US industry. America’s largest casket maker presently has two casket factories operating in Mexico while it shuts down targeted US manufacturing. The #2 manufacturer has one Mexican factory, and its distributors have been actively importing caskets from China.
My father founded our company in 1939 on the simple belief that we will deliver an honest product at an honest price. He kept his costs low and his service levels high. Family has always been at the heart of Thacker Caskets, Inc. My mother, Audrey, is still an integral part of the business and she’s at her desk daily. My daughter has recently joined the firm. Danielle represents the third generation of Thacker’s commitment to serving leading funeral directors and their families. For over 65 years, we have always considered our loyal customers as part of our extended “Thacker Family”—friends as well as customers.
