History
Continuing on the growth path, in June of 2001, Thacker Caskets, Inc. purchased majority ownership in the Balanced Line Casket Company of Cambridge City, IN. Long one of the most revered names in the Midwest, the Balanced Line acquisition enabled Thacker Caskets, Inc. to enter the important Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio markets. Balanced Line’s Jim Peacock is a highly respected personality in the Indiana/Michigan Funeral Supply community and an acknowledged merchandising expert and valued counselor to many Hoosier Funeral Directors.
Not willing to rest on their laurels, Thacker Caskets, Inc. has established additional Customer Service Centers in Twinsburg, OH, Metter, GA, and Detroit, MI, bringing the total number of Thacker Caskets, Inc. distribution points to 11.
Yet another milestone was reached in June of 2005 when the Thacker family purchased a 210,000sqft building in an attractive industrial park in Florence, AL. This is the new home of Thacker Caskets, Inc. production operations. The company’s rapid growth had put great pressure on the older Loretto facilities. The Loretto operation included three separate factories and much additional casket handling was required. Just a 25 minute drive from Loretto, the new factory provides a wonderful working environment for our employees and the opportunity to take advantage of manufacturing efficiencies simply not available in the former environment. This exciting facility opened for full production on Monday, October 17th, 2005—several weeks ahead of schedule!
At a time when the nation’s “Top 2” casket manufacturers by volume are both building factories in Mexico and one has partnered with China, Thacker Caskets, Inc. is proud to make this substantial investment right here in America. We are committed to keeping jobs here in the USA instead of laying people off and shipping manufacturing jobs abroad.
